Dino Distinction: Newspapers Are Sucking Wind, Hurray!!!

There is a reason why the dinosaurs are extinct. That reason still remains a mystery to noted scientist. But my guess is, they just were no longer "relevant". Hence, we are now watching a new brontosaurus being removed from the planet…I hope…Newspapers!

Newspapers are NOT a sustainable product so I am not a fan of "reading the rainforest" every morning with coffee. So the question becomes, how many trees does it take to print a newspaper?

A: It really all depends on the size of the tree. According to paper manufacturer Boise Cascade, however, a cord of wood (wood stacked 4 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet, or 128 cubic feet) produces nearly 90,000 sheets of paper or 2,700 copies of a 35-page newspaper!

While the transition from paper deliver to electronic deliver will bring some short term sacrifice and of course job loss, I am confident that Journalism will prevail and good writers will ALWAYS be in demand.

Here is a look and the extinction of an industry from the past…
