Is eBay Pulling a Rope-a-Dope Or Just a Dope? LMAO

Dude, the numbers from the 3rd quarter of 2009 were VERY telling. We are a seeing the grip of fear beginning to ease. The consumer is spending and they are spending everywhere….except eBay.

Do you recall the past? Lets go back to the storied sports history of 1974. A young man named Cassius Clay has changed his name to Muhammad Ali. It is October 30, 1974 and the soon to be crowned "king of all grills", George Forman is whipping Ali’s ass!

However Ali has a strategy, he is using a "rope-a-dope". Ali starts to lie back on the ropes and lets Forman swing with all his might. Foreman landed constant blows to the body, but had trouble landing punches to the head. Foreman began to tire from all the punches he threw at Ali to no apparent effect, and with the punches he was taking from Ali, Foreman was visibly exhausted and starting to stagger by the 5th round. Ali eventually knocked him out in the 8th round.

Is eBay pulling a rope-a-dope? If they are not pulling punches, then I must say unequivocally, that I believe that the kingdom of eBay is in SERIOUS TROUBLE. While Jeff Bezos is dancing to the bank, is John Donahoe praying to the "goddess Meg" for guidance in these troubling time?

John, You are welcome to have my eBay Badge if you want it.

If eBay does come out Swinging it will Probably have a 3 swing limit on it and can only be accessed with a phone number that does not exist.

    John,
eBay doesn't have the corporate discipline to do a rope-a-dope. Planning a strategy and sticking with it is has not been their strong suit in a long time. Seriously.

What a stunning blow Amazon's amazing third quarter must have been to John Donahoe. As an 11 year small seller on Ebay – I was absolutely delighted…couldn't be happier. It kind of made up for the one and only listing I had going that was almost ending and only had 5 views! Before Mr. Donahoe took over in January 2008 I had a nice Ebay store and was listing at least 50 auctions at a time with about a 70 percent sell thru rate. Mr. Donahoe is virtually destroying Ebay and the quarterly reports are telling the tale and he will now turn around and take this last failure out on the sellers (once again). It can no longer be denied that he's on the wrong track and he's at a point now where he can't own up and admit it!

In the almost 2 years that Donahoe has been running ebay I've seen sellers being treated with suspicion – like a bunch of crooks. I've seen favoritism toward the larger sellers and the diamond sellers though the same fees are wrenched out of the small sellers. More and more of them are leaving….and it shows in the decline in traffic and in sales! I suppose Mr. Donahoe still feels like there's an endless supply of us suckers…..wrong! Well, while my last listing was rolling off of Ebay, I was working on holiday sales for my website and now opening a shop on OnlineAuctions, as I have with Etsy, Bonanzle, Overstock and eCrater…..I have to make a living too…hear that Mr. Donahoe. I can't be tossing my fees down a dry well. Its a very simple rule: no service…no fees!
